Living on Lucky Street

This is the story of a girl who bought a house and lived to tell the tale. And yes, it's really on Lucky Street.

The Living Room!!!

What a difference a weekend makes!

Nathan came up and kindly donated his weekend to help me paint my living room. We were afraid on Friday that we might not get done with the work, but we managed to get the job completed, and by Saturday night, we even had my sofa moved up from Boonville.

Mom and I cleaned the floors and then moved all of my furniture and entertainment equipment into the living room. Hooray! I can now lounge in my living room on my sofa and watch movies and have a place to have people over! Finally!!! I love it. The color is great, and I can finally really visualize what it will look like once the fireplace, the bookshelves, and the entertainment center are all completed and in place. Sigh. It's really a house at last.

There's still a lot to do with moldings and scraping and painting the woodwork on the stairs, as well as hanging the French doors that go out to the sunroom, but this work made a sudden leap forward in reaching completion.

Front Porch Demolition

Uncle John came up for a Saturday and helped deconstruct the front porch of the house so it can be rebuilt. When we got into it, we discovered so much rot and ruination, it was really hard to see how the roof had supported his weight while he was up there. Very scary. I'm really looking forward to seeing the rebirth of this front part of the house.
