Living on Lucky Street

This is the story of a girl who bought a house and lived to tell the tale. And yes, it's really on Lucky Street.

Fencing me in!

Today, Dad and Chuck installed the first half of the pickets on my backyard fence. Hooray!!! I love it! I can't wait for the gates to go in and the dogs to be brought home at last! There will be two large gates at the side of the yard to allow for vehicles and building supplies being brought in and out.

My path to the driveway will have to be moved now that the fence is in place. Eventually, I'll have a brick walkway installed to get from the back door to the back gate.

The posts next to the small driveway gate will make one half of an arbor that we'll install. I plan to put clematis around the bottom which will climb up the lattice and make a really gorgeous entry.

Next weekend, the rest of the pickets will go in, and then the gates will get built. I can't wait! It's going to be so private and nice. Plus, no more people will cut through my yard after this! Excellent!!!

Windows on the World!

The two biggest windows were installed by my Uncle John this week. In both cases, the wall had to be rebuilt because the windows were slightly bigger than the openings.

The window for the upstairs hall has been a long time coming, but what a difference it makes! Light streams down the staircase all day long, and the panoramic view is wonderful. :)

The guest room above the dining room also got a new window which is a few inches wider than the original. What a fantastic view! What a difference it makes to finally be able to look out the front again! How exciting to know we can finally button up the room and get ready to drywall!
